NEWS RELEASE: Carcharodon Carcharius

Early this month aboad Capt. Reel Doc's vessel the "Si Como No?", while fishing between Bush Point and Lagoon Point of the west side of South Whidbey Island a GREAT WHITE SHARK was caught.

The Great White, an approximately 13 year old juvenile fish was captured by local angler Hilde Mott, who was trolling a chocolate chip cookie on a 9/0 hook. Ms. Mott was so excited by her catch she took it home and named it. No scale large enough to weigh the fish was available, but length was estimated by marine scientist Harry Rich, Jr. at almost 6 feet (and still growing).
